Gobbledygook is a Chrome extension that fills web forms with realistic, coherent fake data — instantly. The name, email, username, address, and bio all belong to the same made-up person. Built for QA testers, developers, designers, and anyone tired of typing "asdf" into every field.
What it does
- Fill a single field or an entire form with one click or keyboard shortcut
- Generates a consistent persona per form — first name, last name, email, username, and bio all match
- Recognizes 60+ field types: names, email, phone, address, date of birth, credit card (Stripe test numbers), social media URLs, pronouns, job titles, bios, and more
- Smart SELECT handling — picks contextually appropriate options, not just random ones
- Works with modern SPAs and React apps, not just plain HTML forms
- Scout mode highlights every field on the page so you can see exactly what the extension recognizes
How to use it
- Click the toolbar icon and choose Fill this field or Fill entire form
- Right-click any input for context menu options
- Keyboard shortcuts: Alt+Shift+J (field), Alt+Shift+K (form), Alt+Shift+L (scout)
Scout mode
Hit Alt+Shift+L (or click "Scout fields" in the popup) to light up the page:
- Green — recognized, will be filled
- Amber — recognized but intentionally skipped (search bars, people pickers, schedule widgets)
- Red — unknown field
Unknown fields are copied to your clipboard in a structured format so you can report them and get patterns added.
Privacy
- Zero network calls — all data generated locally from bundled word lists
- No analytics, no tracking, no remote servers
- No AI — deterministic random generation
- All data stays in your browser; nothing stored except your settings
Configurable
- Set your preferred email domain (maildrop.cc for disposable inboxes, or your own)
- Adjust birth year range and checkbox probability
- Supply custom filler text to replace Lorem Ipsum
Try it
Install the extension, then open the demo form to see it in action.
